Thanks to Niantic’s questionable decision-making, Pokémon Go might be struggling a bit right now. Regardless, the game is still enjoyable.
If you are new to the game or have never noticed it before, some of the Pokémon you have caught may have a blue glow (or aura) behind their image when looking through your collection. What does that blue glow mean?
We’ll cut to the chase – the blue tint you see around Pokémon in Pokémon Go indicates that you caught that Pokémon within the last 24 hours.
And there you have it. The mystery of the blue aura has been solved. There are multiple rumors about the blue tint, so let’s address a few of these really quickly.

Some have stated that the blue coloring highlights the Pokémon you’ve caught since last opening the game. That is incorrect.
Others have said that Pokémon will have the blue tint until you tap on them in your inventory. This is also incorrect.
Again, the blue glow behind Pokémon in your Pokémon Go inventory simply indicates that you caught them within the last 24 hours.
