Kecleon, the mysterious, often invisible Pokémon, is now available in Pokémon Go. But can the chameleon be shiny?
Kecleon was revealed to the world in January 2023 at the end of Chespin Community Day. Since then, players have been able to find the mysterious Pokémon hanging around Pokéstops.
Following its worldwide release, players were treated to the release of shiny Kecleon on February 25, 2023, during the global Hoenn Pokémon Go Tour.
It’s unclear what the shiny rates are on Kecleon, but we imagine it follows Pokémon Go’s standard shiny rate of 1/500.
What does shiny Kecleon look like?
Shiny Kecleon doesn’t have a drastically different appearance from the standard one, but it is much better than some shinies (looking at you, shiny Blissey).
The main difference in design is the jagged stripe around the middle of the Pokémon.
On the non-shiny version, the jagged stripe is reddish-pink. On the shiny Kecleon, the stripe is blue-grey.
How to catch Kecleon in Pokémon Go
The final piece of the puzzle in your quest for shiny Kecleon is figuring out where to catch it.
Kecleon can be found hanging out on random Pokéstops around the world. Here’s how to catch it:
Time needed: 2 minutes
The act of catching Kelceon takes no time, but you might have to search for a while to find a Pokéstop with it.
When you tap on a Pokéstop, look for a shimmering outline moving on the screen. That indicates that Kecleon is there.
If you try to spin a stop where Kecleon is, you’ll get a message saying, “There’s an invisible obstacle in your way. It’s preventing you from collecting items.”
From there, tap on the shimmering outline and back out of the Pokéstop, and you’ll find Kecleon hanging out on the map.
Then, it’s simply a matter of tapping on it and catching it as normal.
There you go; that’s all there is to catching the elusive Pokémon.
Shiny Kecleon is rare, but that’s ok
It might take you an extremely long time to find a shiny version of this Pokémon, but we have good news.
Kecleon is a permanent addition to Pokémon Go, so you have plenty of time to find one in the wild.
