Genshin Impact is a great open-world gacha game. But, one thing that some players have issues with is the FOV (field-of-view). Can you increase FOV in Genshin Impact?
We’re not going to make you read a bunch of fluff before getting to the answer. At this time, you cannot change the FOV in Genshin Impact.
This has been a long-requested feature from players. Sadly, HoYoverse has yet to implement the ability to increase or decrease the field-of-view for players.
We assume it’s mainly pointed at mobile players, as increasing the FOV can put additional strain on devices.
The same can be said for computers, but typically, they have a bit more power available, so something like this isn’t as big a concern.
But, that said, you do have options for improving how much you can see in the beautiful world of Teyvat.
Ways to increase your view in Genshin Impact
While you can’t change your literal FOV in the game, the developers added a default camera distance option that helps you see more of the screen.
The big difference here is to think of field-of-view as a cone. A larger FOV increases how wide the cone is at its widest point.
On the other hand, making the camera distance go farther back essentially zooms out the image.
It’s not perfect, but we prefer having it zoomed all the way out. It gives us a better look at the world and, more importantly, makes it easier to see where enemies are.

How to set your default camera distance on mobile
For mobile players, you can follow the steps below:
- Open the Genshin Impact app
First, tap on the Paimon icon in the top-left corner

Tap the Gear icon to open Settings

Under Controls, scroll until you reach Default Camera Distance

Crank the slider up to maximum
Doing this should help your camera just a bit in Genshin Impact.
While it won’t make the biggest difference in the world, it does mean you won’t have to zoom out as often during gameplay.
How to set your default camera distance on PC
For PC gamers, the process is identical and we’ll show you how the steps look below.
- Press Escape to open your menu, then click the Gear icon to go to Settings
- Then, under Controls, find Default Camera Distance
To get your camera as far back as it will go, crank the slider up to 6.0.
Just like on mobile, adjusting the default camera distance in Genshin Impact is a small quality-of-life feature that can improve your time with the game.
Will HoYoverse ever add a FOV slider?
With the hit mobile game getting ready to celebrate another yearly anniversary, we don’t have high hopes of seeing an increased FOV option in Genshin Impact.
It’s possible that it will be added if enough players petition for it, but don’t hold your breath.
