Pokémon Go runs pretty smoothly on most modern phones, but is there a way to increase the framerate (FPS) to make it look even better?
One important thing to remember about this is that you need to make sure your phone is up to the task if you plan on unlocking the native refresh rate.
Increasing your refresh rate will put more strain on your phone (and possibly heat it up).
Because of this, you’re going to want to make sure you have a newer phone or tablet before doing this. Once you are confident with your device, read on for the how-to.
How to increase refresh rate in Pokémon Go
Time needed: 2 minutes
If you are ready to improve the smoothness of Pokémon Go, you’re in luck. The process can be completed in just a couple taps of your screen.
- Get in the app
Open up the Pokémon Go app
Tap the Pokéball in the middle of your screen
- Once in the menu
Then, tap the Settings icon (the gear)
Scroll down and tap Advanced Settings
- The final step
Tap Native Refresh Rate to toggle the feature on
Once you’ve done that, you will have unlocked the full power of your smartphone or tablet. We’ve shown the process on iPhone, but it will be the same on Android, as well.
Now, when playing, you’ll notice nicer animations, and curveballs will flow smoothly.
