Genshin Impact is a fantastic gacha game that is available across multiple devices. That means it features controls for touchscreen, mouse & keyboard, and controller. Well, for the most part.
You see, when Genshin Impact launched, one thing that was suspiciously missing was controller support for Android gamers. And now, in February 2023, with the big 3.0 update out, has anything changed?
Sadly, the answer is no. Genshin Impact Android controller support is still missing from the game.
If you want to learn more about this, keep reading below.
Does Genshin Impact have Android controller support in 2023?

As of the time of this writing (February 16, 2023) Android still doesn’t feature controller support for Genshin Impact.
Like the long-rumored Nintendo Switch port, HoYoverse is keeping quiet about controller support.
It’s really a bummer because there are some absolutely great mobile controllers out there, and Genshin is simply better with hardware controls.
Genshin Impact features iOS controller support, but the company has not revealed the issues with Android-based systems.
Android controller workarounds for Genshin Impact

All hope is not lost, however. You have options if you want to play the hit game on your Android phone while using a mobile controller. Well, you have one option.
You can download an app like Mantis Gamepad Pro to map specific parts of your screen to controller inputs.
That said, we have no personal experience using this app, so do your due diligence before downloading any app from the Google Play Store.
Through our research, people have had mixed results using Mantis, but if you struggle with the touchscreen controls, you have the option.
Why can’t you use a mobile controller on Android?

HoYoverse has yet to give an official reason why Android users can’t use a mobile controller in Genshin Impact.
Some people have their own thoughts on the matter, however. One popular rumor is that HoYoverse and Apple have a secret agreement to make Genshin Impact better on iPhone than Android devices.
People that believe this point to the fact that iOS players have higher framerate options than literally any other platform.
While that is an odd decision by HoYoverse, we don’t believe that proves anything regarding controller support.
Android users far outnumber iOS users on a global scale. HoYoverse is extremely limiting itself by not including official controller support for Android.
A deal with Apple would have to be worth ridiculous amounts, and we don’t see that happening.
Will Android ever get controller support for Genshin Impact?
Obviously, the question on everyone’s mind is – when will Genshin Impact get controller support on Android?
At present, there is no official word. The game is getting ready to celebrate its big second anniversary, and there has been no word of this addition.
It’s possible HoYoverse will randomly drop this update in the coming weeks or months. But, we wouldn’t hold our breath.
