Honkai: Star Rail has a ton of potential for mobile RPG fans – but will you ever be able to play with your friends in co-op?
Look, we’ll cut right to the chase: No, co-op is not available in Honkai: Star Rail.
It’s a bit of a bummer, considering both Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd have some PvE multiplayer options.
Of course, the game will have a friends list, and you can use some of your friends’ units in battles, but that really isn’t the same.
So why exactly is true co-op missing from Star Rail? We’ll break down our thoughts below.
Why Honkai: Star Rail doesn’t have co-op

We’re going to make some assumptions here, but from our experience, we feel pretty confident with the reasoning.
Essentially, co-op in a turn-based RPG is difficult to implement, if not straight-up impossible. The system just isn’t built for it.
While it would theoretically be possible, it very easily could be a clunky system that turns people away.
But what about PvP?
The next obvious question regarding the game’s multiplayer experience is PvP.
At this point, it is unclear if Honkai: Star Rail has any PvP elements. But, we’ll continue to monitor the situation to see if any new details come out.
Honkai: Star Rail is set to release in April 2023. You can learn more about the game here.
