Pokémon Go is gearing up for a new event that sees the return of Giovanni. The event also brings back one of the most sought-after Pokémon, Shadow Mewtwo.
In the Team Go Rocket Takeover event (November 14-17), players will get the chance to take on Giovanni for their chance to catch Shadow Mewtwo.
But new and returning players might be at a loss for how this works. Don’t worry, we’ll walk you through how to use the Super Rocket Radar to find Giovanni.
How to find Giovanni in Pokémon Go
To find Giovanni and ultimately catch Shadow Mewtwo, you’ll need to use a Super Rocket Radar.
Unlike regular Rocket Radars, which you get from fighting grunts, Super Rocket Radars can typically only be earned through special research tasks.
Come November 14th, you’ll be able to participate in the Team Go Rocket Takeover event to finish tasks and, eventually, unlock a Super Rocket Radar.
How to use the Super Rocket Radar
Once you have the special radar, you’ll need to equip it from your inventory if you didn’t do it at the completion of the Research Task.
Once equipped, players will need to hunt out Rocket Stops looking for the big bad guy, Giovanni.
This might take a couple of tries, as Rocket Grunts will pop up from some locations. Once you find him, simply take on his challenge and defeat his three Pokémon.
After defeating his lineup, you’ll have the chance to catch the ultra-rare Shadow Mewtwo.
Who is Giovanni?
If you play Pokémon Go, but don’t watch the show or play the games, you might not know much about Giovanni.
Basically, Giovanni is one of the major bad guys in the series. He is the former leader of Team Rocket. He was also the gym leader at the Viridian City gym.
Can Shadow Mewtwo be shiny?
At present, Shadow Mewtwo cannot be shiny. Maybe one day they will release an event where you have a small chance to get one.
Sadly, you’re stuck with the regular Shadow version for now. Shiny ones are available in raids occasionally, however.
Don’t miss out on Shadow Mewtwo
Look, Shadow Mewtwo is awesome and one of the most powerful Pokémon in the entire game.
If you care about doing big damage in raids (and PvP), it will definitely be worth participating in the event.
