BlueStacks 5 is one of our favorite Android emulators, as it gives us access to a ton of games. But what happens when we want to share footage from some of those games? Can you screen record in BlueStacks 5?
While smartphones from companies like Apple and Samsung often include built-in screen recording functionality, the same can’t be said for BlueStacks.
It is something the company has said it is working on, but sadly, it still isn’t available. Because of this, screen recording on BlueStacks 5 is slightly more difficult.
We say slightly because, thankfully, Windows PCs have a couple of easy-to-use options when it comes to screen recording.
We’ll walk you through our favorite two options below.
BlueStacks 5 screen recording – how to

If you want to record your mobile gameplay, your two best options (in our opinion) are the Xbox Game Bar and GeForce Experience.
How to screen record in BlueStacks 5 with Xbox Game Bar
Time needed: 1 minute.
If you want to use the often-forgotten Xbox Game Bar to record your BlueStacks gameplay, you can totally do that. Here’s how:
- Set up the Xbox Game Bar
Go to Settings > Gaming

Toggle the Game Bar On in the Xbox Game Bar settings
- Set up quick keys
While on this screen, set up a shortcut for Record that

Then, when playing a game on BlueStacks, use the shortcut to start recording
If you want even more control over your recording, you can open up the Xbox Game Bar with Windows key + G and set up audio preferences.

On this screen, you can also start the recording manually, as shown in the image above.
By doing it this way, when you do record, your sound levels and microphone will be set up appropriately. If you would prefer a different option, keep reading below.
How to screen record in BlueStacks 5 with GeForce Experience
If you prefer using GeForce Experience (which we do), recording your gameplay is extremely straightforward. Just note that you’ll need an Nvidia GPU for this.
- Open GeForce Experience, and in Settings, make sure you have In-Game Overlay set up

- While in your BlueStacks game, use your shortcode to open up GeForce Experience
- Here, you’ll be able to choose the Record function to begin recording your screen

This awesome feature lets you record a set amount of minutes prior to pushing the button. It’s perfect for times when you did something awesome but couldn’t set up the recording feature ahead of time.
