Endless runners are a staple of the mobile game genre. Games like Temple Run and Subway Surfers helped solidify endless runners, and now there is a new one looking to help people kill time – Katanauts.

As you can tell from the headline, Katanauts doesn’t take itself too seriously. Inspired by games like Flappy Bird, it features ninja cats and samurai rats in a sidescrolling endless runner.

The game comes from xDaex, and definitely features a graphic style that old-school gamers will find familiar. But don’t take our word for it. Just check out some of Katanauts‘ screenshots below.

If you like sidescrolling games and need an endless runner to fill the boredom in your life, Katanauts looks like a solid, yet difficult, option.

You’ll defeat enemies, collect coins, and use lightning to defeat your enemies along your infinite scroll. Achievement hunters will also be glad to hear that the game features multiple layers of achievements.

Katanauts is currently available on Android, with no word on an iOS release. If you are on iPhone, you can always use an Android emulator on PC to check out the game.
