Now, before we start into the class breakdowns, we kind of posed a trick question. The best class to play is the one you have the most fun with. While a meta will probably develop as the game continues, we recommend playing a class that you find interesting.

That will be the best way to stay interested in the game. Now, if you are still grinding the game hard in six months, we totally understand wanting to optimize your gameplay. In those cases, starting a new meta character makes sense.

Regardless, let’s dive in and break down the classes in Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds.

The Swordman class is going to be your basic fighter class. Equipped with a sword, player abilities allow you to slash your way through enemies. Expect quick, continuous attacking with this class.

Witch class

The Witch class is another attacker class, similar to the Swordman. She uses a magic spear to accomplish a variety of quick hits to opponents. And because she is a witch, many of the abilities have a magical flair to them.

The Rogue class, also considered a traditional support role, is for players who like a little stealth in their gameplay. You’ll use your bow to keep at a distance, but your abilities will help confuse enemies and support teammates.

Engineer class

The Engineer is another support role in Ni no Kuni and is focused on healing your teammates. You have access to a variety of weapons and abilities as well, making it one of the more interesting classes to play.

Destroyer class

The Destroyer class is a personal favorite. This is going to be your tank class. Swing your giant hammer around and use abilities that let you leap and spin. If you love to play brawler-type, in-your-face characters, Destroyer might be for you.

Ni no Kuni: Cross Words offers plenty of gameplay variation

At the end of the day, you’ll want to pick the character that best suits your playstyle. For us, that was the Destroyer, but we are certainly going to try the Witch soon. Her magic spear and abilities look ridiculously cool.

Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds is available for AndroidiOS, and through a PC client. Heads up, you’ll need to register through Android or iOS and link an email before you can use the PC client. Don’t have a phone that can run it? Consider using an Android emulator on PC.
