Did Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds lower familiar hatch rates?

Netmarble is just doing Netmarble things, apparently.

Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds is now out in the world and players have very mixed feelings about the mobile title. Now, a new update will make the game even more divisive, allegedly.

According to Reddit user Ok_Situation8244, Netmarble’s latest global update included a variety of bug fixes and updates, but the most glaring was changing the hatch rates for familiars.

These familiars are an important part of the game, and the hatching system was the best way to obtain them without spending real money.

Prior to the update, players had an approximately 30 percent chance to obtain a four-star familiar. Now, the chance is below 5 percent. That’s a drastic difference.

Now, it should be noted that the previous 30+ percent chance was high, and a slight tweak was somewhat expected. But dropping it drastically is a slap in the face to free-to-play players and low spenders.

Three-star familiars in Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds also had their percent chances dropped, making a bad change even worse. One player noted on Reddit that, “If true I may just drop out now after I gave them a chance especially after their terrible Territe excuse.”

Is this something Netmarble will back peddle on or is this what global players should expect going forward? We wouldn’t hold our breath waiting for another change, personally.
