Pokémon Go has always had a map problem for rural players, but that could change in the coming month thanks to a new update.

Niantic has announced that sweeping map changes are coming to the hit mobile game. From updated roads and buildings to changing how the spawns work, there is definitely a lot to be excited about.

While updated roads and visual changes are fine, the big thing here is that Niantic is revisiting how spawns work. This goes for both rural and urban players.

Rural players “could” see an increase in the number of Pokémon that spawn on the map. The “could” is a little worrying, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed. It’s possible Niantic is leaving it slightly vague for areas with little to no cell reception.

City players will also receive some changes in the coming weeks. Pokémon will stop spawning in such tight clusters and instead be spread out better on the map.

Niantic also notes that in city areas that Pokémon may start spawning in different areas, as well.

Overall, a Pokémon Go map update is very welcome, and one rural players have wanted for years. Now, if only Niantic could get it together on box prices, because they are terrible right now.
