If you are stuck on the A Thousand-Year Slumber quest in Pokémon Go, you are not alone. But, thankfully, there is a quick fix that we’ll dive right into.

In part 5 of this quest, Trainers are asked to beat a team leader 3 times. However, many people have noted that the quest doesn’t seem to advance.

If you are stuck on this part, it’s quite possible that the vague wording has you doing the wrong task.

Put simply, to beat Part 5 of 7 in the Thousand-Year Slumber quest, you have to beat Blanche, Candela, and Spark three times in total. You do NOT have to battle Team Rocket leaders.

Many people who have had issues with this quest were fighting Team Leaders (Sierra, Arlo, and Cliff) and not advancing the quest line.

It’s an understandable mistake and one we actually made ourselves. We’ll show you how to fight the Team Leaders (Mystic, Valor, and Instinct) below.

How to fight Team Leaders in Pokémon Go

If you are trying to complete step 5 of A Thousand-Year Slumber, we’ll show you how below:

Time needed: 10 minutes

You’ll need to beat three leaders (it can be the same one) to finish this step. It should take you around 10 minutes in total.

  1. Launch the app

Launch Pokémon Go and tap on the Pokéballpokémon go app

  2. Select Battle from the menu optionsbattle menu pokemon go

  3. Scroll down until you reach the Training section and select a Trainertrainer battle select option

From here, you’ll just need to beat three 3v3 battles against these trainers.

Once you complete that, A Thousand-Year Slumber (5/7) will be complete, and you can move on with the quest line.

It’s a shame Niantic doesn’t make the words more clear on the mission. But, at least now, you’ll be able to tackle the quest and move on with your life.
