Torchlight: Infinite’s ARPG gameplay is fun, but can be a bit tough with touchscreen controls. Does the game offer any kind of controller support?
We’ll cut to the chase: As of February 2023, Torchlight: Infinite has added controller support.
Sadly, controller support options are limited. At present, the game only features official Xbox controller support for players.
This is a bit of a bummer, as it is pretty limiting. Many players use third-party controllers for mobile games, but at present, those aren’t supported.
Of course, there are some third-party apps that claim to help with controller mapping. But at present, we can’t confirm that any of those work with Torchlight: Infinite.
Do you need a controller for Torchlight: Infinite?
Ultimately, a controller isn’t needed for Torchlight: Infinite. But, for many players, it is definitely beneficial.
With a game like this, having granular control over your character can be the difference between life and death. A controller (for most players) does a better job of that when compared to standard touchscreen controls.
Granted, it isn’t needed, and plenty of players have been successful playing with the touchscreen controls. Ultimately, it comes down to preference.
The game isn’t perfect, but still fun
There’s a lot to like about the action-combat of the game, but it is far from perfect. The addition of controller support is nice, but it only scratches the surface of what is needed in the game.
Torchlight: Infinite is sadly missing many multiplayer options right now. Additionally, the monetization structure leaves something to be desired.
But, if you are a fan of Torchlight or ARPGs in general, we still think it is worth checking out. Especially for those that prefer a controller experience.
Torchlight: Infinite is available on iOS, Android, and Steam as an open beta release.
